Hello beta testers!
This thread is for general feedback during the beta period. And basically just about anything you want to talk about.
I will start by saying that it has been quite the journey to get to this point but I'm super proud of how the app has turned out.
Now I'm just quite anxious to see how it works for other people.
But as a disc golf enthusiast, and someone who has struggled to throw far, but still enjoys field practice, this app is basically everything I always wanted.
It can help me review form, organize the throw videos, save a lot of memory on the phone because every field session is cut automatically into perfect little pieces.
And all you need is a nice tripod for your phone, which is like 30€.
And now I also have a really cool indoor disc golf simulator, for basically just extra 150€ for the net (and DiscLab pro subscription).
I know there will be some people who are skeptical of the accuracy of the metrics. And it is perfectly rational response, because nothing like this has been done before in disc golf. And truthfully, we cannot guarantee that the metrics will be perfectly accurate all the time. But I think people will be very surprised by how good DiscLab metrics accuracy is already. At least I hope so. And I think we can make it even better with some updates later on.
I tried the reference side by side comparison today and wow, what a great feature to have! It would be really interesting if there were more reference options. Like maybe there could be 3 alternatives to choose from.
Later down the line i think adding a feature where one could upload a snippet of a pros video (or even just a video of a friend) to use in a side by side comparison would be great!
Hi! Thank you for the feedback!
We'll definitely be looking at adding more references. I would love to have a system where you can choose which pro form you want to compare to from a list of players you know. :)
But currently it's only limited by time and lack of connections to suitably famous players.
Having your own / friend's throw as a reference should be possible to do. It would be tied to the upload & share system. So that in the app, you input a share link somewhere and that throw becomes your own personal reference option.
And I think we can implement video zoom pretty soon. So thank you for that suggestion as well.
Ive just been out trying to improve my forearm by throwing into a net for 2 hours straight and recording the throws with this app.I must say that this app is damn nice!! (And damn is my arm sore haha)
I find myself spamming the forward frame button as 0.25x is not slow enough for me. If its possible to add slower options that would be nice!
Sometimes, like every 10 throws or so i get a speed recording that is like 5-10 mph faster than the others. The app says that Im throwing towards the camera for these "faster throws", or at least not perpendicular to where its facing. I have the camera on a tripod and the net is not big enough that i can change throwing directions mich, so im suspecting that its an bug. Google Pixel 10 pro if that matters for this report.
Adding discs and the app recognizing discs has worked really well today. I didnt add discs until today because i just wanted to get started with throwing, but now after having done it I just want so say that it was a very smooth experience. The simulator for the grace distance-wise seems pretty accurate when compared to my throws in the field. I havent compared other discs yet however.
Ive had like 3-4 hiccups where the app says its ready for a throw, then after i throw the disc it didnt record anything. It happens pretty seldom so its almost not worth reporting on.
